cathyhelgoe Each track reveals the next step on an emotional journey. There are beautiful transitions between states using voice and bass and melodic guitar lines that carry you through. Found myself singing and humming the music, especially the lush, optimistic ending!

To See Pan 13:01
I. Do you still remember how to find the secret door? Pinned into the moss upon the green opposing shore Don't you speak the language anymore? I have nursed this garden from my heart's charred, withered rose Ten tin rows of infantry to keep the starless roads To places even you don't think to go God has called a chorus down of willow droops to weave A closer curtain 'tween the painted world and me Pilfering our fortunes down the orchard-draped arcades I crowed mine like an Indian off the rafters of our cage A callnote I unfurl into my name But now I come defeated to the warden of the gate To beat my fingers bloody 'gainst the iron palisade Recite my token lines then leave the stage Scavenging the gold things where they grow in princely graves Trinket songs our master once so freely gave II. As I was walking With spirits talking A cloud passed over The crown of the rye And I saw horses That waltz weird courses 'Round bass-drum courtses Then wither and die Suffer and die (God's a sunless center's lidless eye) And I want to know now The way was so clear It passed like a dream as The gods appeared (The banners are strung up The streets are swept clear The crowd bends like reeds as The gods appear) But we are far from the crowds and marching bands, aren't we? III. Once there was a garden Where stealing through the gap in the wall, we could peer through the leaves as the chorus would play. And at night, a vaulting sky hung down the stars, a clutch of silver grapes to crush inside your hand. But there are no more gardens now. Who will meet your eyes? Who will greet you? That fruit's overripe; the juice down your cheek stings like communion wine. Oh, what's become of you, divine child? Your chest's an egg cracked open, And the insects stew your organs like swimmers in pudding. Your nerves spill out, tender as mushroom caps, a blind grass over the black earth Can't you hear it yet? The wind chimes its vacant formulae in the high parapets of the clouds. And a bower-stomach, damp and tilling, is already taking you into itself. No more shivering now. Come on, Let's show some dignity before the end. (Free As you unwind Feel For one straight line Comes serpentine Up through the undergrime Brushing the ants from your eyes Blood turned tarry turpentine Nursed by earth We recombine Birthed In babys'wine A hand so kind You're trembling and terrified Brushing the ants from your eyes One glimpse of gold paradise) IV. In arid code, breath from a dead hearth sowed a dark seed inside your seeing (Reshaped your heart a fleshwork maze) Look outside: the prince's headlight eyes call soft down evil streets (He's at your door, a birch ablaze) Sores hack a well in his face (And did you hear the news today?) All the swans have left the lake (Where pale horizon tides with song) The gates are yawning for the dawning of the faun A terror-sermon rides and reigns the rising sea Tides in me. Driven out to kiss the heel of a chariot wheel, running rats revealed through the shadowed halls of power (The first shall soon be food for pigs!) A sad reunion, drawn and quartered with your courtiers, aspic mash of butchered flowers (You too shall face your grave and dig!) Pawn your silks for sand Among the spiceroad caravans Two dew-eyed exiles out from Lollipop Land Look me in the eyes And recognize Our squalid rat's nest of a tenement careens into tonight (And did you hear the news today?) All the swans have left the lake (Where pale horizon tides with song) The gates are yawning for the dawning of the faun A terror-sermon rides and reigns the rising breeze Dies in me Now it's Coronation Day The demigod is on parade And as they crown him, see the jeweled sun inlaid: True awe is the inhale before a scream of understanding. Let the whipfall knot your skin, Let the wandering age begin There is no prayer could keep you from the yoke and hand I'd give my whole life to Talk awhile with you I'd wait my whole life to Talk awhile with you

Why? 02:33
Why come to me In your need? Clutch your cards? Why Spin your webs? Guard your heart? Lover, somewhere down inside of me this infant mouth just screams Hungers endlessly beneath the bee-run reeds So if I've cloaked my words in irony And buried my beliefs Then expect you to be honest with me, Would you do one thing for me? Could you Force a smile, Stay a while?

I know I've seen the Queen of Swans A shadow cross green ponds Chased through the gate where I would find Tea and Madeleines Her servants teemin round my toes and bore me deep below But I no longer know the place The features of the face A flaming carousel that rides Around a rotten core oflies And though I loved you so much then The memory's a dark dead end Inside some secret garden Blooms in stony silence deep within The childish poetry you write So seek yourself in strangers' chambers Watch the walls surround you, waver, Ghostaway like candlesmoke at night But little sister, dry your eyes You can't be a victim all of your life The world you need cannot be found Swaddled in your masters' static and sound When all that's left to do is find The strength to turn and face Our separate, sad declines So down the stairs into the street The septic body heat Runs guttered rivers round my knees Fat clotting with disease Wave as the waters' heart distends We're whisked away to burning hands To tear to satin tatters Splayed drunk 'cross your carpet shattered Brother there are things we cant deny So now we'll hang, contorting strangely Straining for some melody you used to be Before we face the firing line But little sister, dry your eyes You can't be a victim all of your life Always crying to be saved Hiding in our bedtime waking grave When all that's left to do is find The strength to turn and face the ones I love and lie

I can see it forming Through the eye of a lazuli crystal glass Feel it coming Stain the city's ossified alabast I dive down And through the perfume all the ballroom bachelorettes Seemed to me dervishing, dolled-up marionettes A strange mechanical flailing That leaves me wide-eyed And I can read it in the tea leaves, Beyond the stars A song like faint and muffled laughter, And droning sitars Is seeping out from strange dimensions, leaves me wide I die I can see it budding, Black beneath the milk of your ivory breast Tendrils blooming Writhe through ribs to strangle your heaving breath Taking hold And when the pharaoh descends, Dark and adorned His million masked retainers Blowing their horns A single dissonant chord To hypnotize us So now we fall into formation to writhe in the hand As dancing slaves to constellations' delirious chants As flutes' unending black bleating blends and whines I die In the darkness of my deepest dream I brushed up against a massive presence: a mind the size of a planet, composed of a cacophany of smaller consciousnesses as frog spawn is made of many pupiled eggs, or a brain of many cells. For a long time I felt it, the trembling surface of a membrane-pool of tarry unconscious. Then, through the surface breached a massive bulb of soft, fleshy leaves, petals closed like a tulip's. These tongues fell away, revealing a black fetal form, veiled within an amniotic cowl. The cellophane mucus bulged with the spasming of primitive limbs, twining into shape out of cords that were like engorged worms, knotting together into a shivering doll. Sensitive, ruined, convulsing with seizures, so congealed the living heart of the teeming, primordial tar pit. I watched the profane ceremony a little longer, how it twitched and choked, but soon I could bear it no more and I turned back into the crush of the void. It's in the monstrous fatigue of the long late years And peering through the tar slick I find A suffering bent Your watching whispered shadow I find Your watching whispered shadow I find The Demiurge, The Demiurge, The Demiurge in focus The Demiurge, The Demiurge, The Demiurge in focus

Piping 'long the garden wall, Evening comes to Eaton hall Peeling portraits peep their frames to see Autumn shadows cold and clearly Lamby lingers long past nine Swapping verses, intertwined Recipes for poison, secret keys Open on the world beneath the reeds

I. When you're scared, Sick of waiting, Turn your tides towards a painting Eight years old, Slipping the hand you hold Down the path some painter bent To a garden's crumbling end But torn away No time to stay You lost some part of you between Pools reflecting Verdigris sequestered courtyards still beneath The great brass city that you seek Comes so easy 'cross the sea Banners streaming in the streets Receive you, safe and clean Exactly as they used to be Braided cyprus towers A wall of flowers Your fortress holding back the hours And here was time For tasting rose wine From fountains cool and clear Erupting pinkwash pluming shears But a rocket's blast Across black canvas Erects a shattered church of golden blood You turn and gasp: Your works in brass, Your angels shattered, sunk in mud Sweetly semen-stinking sewage from the flood Where now your lover sleeps, One more forehead kissed and grieved Thrown to the dreamless heap, A dumb, discarded plaything. Sift the wreckage For your lover Pleading, piece him back together Out of glue and Paris plaster, Falls in sheaves from heaving chest Until a crumbling simulacrum smiles back You crack, Where could you find the space to keep him now? With how high your secrets stack? They're spilling through the halls of your dark house. Well, that ship is sailing Already, The ferryman's a shepherd on deserted streets Pipe and drum into the sea Even now, a black wind's knifing! Don't just stand there pinned and fainting Hang your gold tinsel trainings 'Cross the rafters of goodnight Let the music's ghostly architecture rise! Spires shed the nameless deep Blossom thorning in your breathing All now pitch and heave, Collapsed into a single scream Dies in me! II. A proteus plays In the shades To cup the opal on the altar in my hands But in my hands Fortune fades A billion birthdays spokes and axes round the sun And feel as one The world's a prism shot through A fractal crystal matrix around you And as she walks With me talks A whole dead city's frozen sculptures melt to life All aligned Recognized To see my searching eyes in tesselated streets Needing me The world's a prism shot through A technicolor wall-less prison around you Leave your hat and coat There's a sun waiting Leave your house and home There's a sun waiting Let the old world go There's a sun waiting Let the new world flow There's a sun waiting Greet the newborn son There's a sun waiting You and I are one

about

This is my first demo CD, home-recorded by me. I hope you like it.

Was supposed to be this whole concept album, but still a lot of work to be done.

Incidentally, the title is taken (stolen) from the poem by Samuel Seabury.
